The quilt pattern was chosen because it combines the participants love for quilt with their love for aviation.

The quilt block is on a hanger located on the farm.

 

Sunburst

The quilt is located on the Caneyville Fire Department building and the pattern was chosen to honor the

Caneyville Elementary School colors.  The community is very school oriented and school spirit is strong.

 

Umbrella Girl

This pattern was chosen to honor the participant's mother. 

Her first quilt was the Umbrella Girl pattern and the original quilt is still in the home. 

The colors were chosen from the original quilt.  The flowers were chosen from a cloth feed sack

and the green trim from an old dress.   The quilt block is on a tobacco barn that is about 50 years old.

This pattern was chosen after it was seen in a book and loved it because of the star and colors. 

The favorite color is blue and the three shades.

The pattern was chosen because the husband is a carpenter by trade and they are the same colors

in an "underground railroad" quilt using the Civil War reproduction colors that was made by the

wife.  The quilt is placed on a 40 year old barn near the Western Kentucky Parkway.

 

Carpenter's Wheel

The pattern was chosen to honor the participant's husband who passed in 1991.  He was a carpenter

and a retired mail carrier so the colors of red, white and blue represented the quilt well.   The block is

located on a tobacco barn that was designed by the University of Kentucky.

This quilt pattern was chosen because the participant's grandmother made quilt's of this pattern

and she still had it.  Bright colors were wanted that could be seen from a distance.

 

Log Cabin

The quilt pattern was chosen because the participants love (a live in) a log cabin. 

The quilt is placed on her business with the inside looking like a real log cabin also.

This quilt pattern was chosen after the family spotted it in a book and agreed that

it would look nice against the white background of the family garage. 

 

Wedding Ring

The quilt pattern was chosen in honor of a quilt that was given to the participant

by her four children & grandchildren for Mother's Day.  It was a design that her mother

had pieced many times.

 

Flower Garden

The quilt pattern was chosen in honor of the participant's mother who chose the pattern.

She is currently 87 years old and still sews for people.  A beautiful memory of her

mother for many years.  The barn is located only 100 feet off of Hwy 54 and is over

50 years old.

The quilt pattern was chosen to depict the historical Porter Hill School, which was used for many years.

Traveling south on Highway 736 you will see on the right the original building which is located on the

Hardin Porter farm.

This quilt pattern and color was chosen to represent the 4-H Clover and the

4 H's (head, heart, hands, health). It is located on the storage building for the Grayson County Extension Office.

 

Tulip

This quilt pattern was chosen as a memorial to honor previous Master Gardner, Lynda Ragland.  

She had planted flowers under the quilt and loved the flowers.   The quilt is placed on the Breckinridge-

Grayson, Inc. Headstart building.    The building was previously used as the old Leitchfield High School

that was built in 1924.
